Save the TV licence for over 75s

In Dewsbury, Mirfield, Denby Dale and Kirkburton, there are 4,670 households with over-75s who are set to lose their free TV license thanks to the Tories breaking their election promise to protect it.

Labour brought in the free TV licence scheme for over 75s as a welfare policy – it is the government’s responsibility to look after the wellbeing of older people, not the BBC’s.

For many older people their television is a companion and connection to the outside world. The Tories have broken their 2017 manifesto pledge to retain the scheme – and it’s lonely and isolated older people who will pay the price.

Send a message to the Tories. Sign up now to join the campaign against this ruthless welfare cut.
